Children's podiatry

Children’s feet differ from those of adults because they are growing quickly. This can lead to a range of problems, some of which are unique to children.

It is important to monitor the development of children’s feet and legs so that any problems can be picked up early. Many lower limb conditions will resolve all by themselves with time, however, some may require intervention with appropriate treatment.

Frequently asked questions about Children’s podiatry

Do podiatrists treat children?

Yes we do. We are professionals in the assessment and diagnosis of foot and leg issues affecting people of all ages!

My child has started limping when playing sport or running and complaining of heel pain. Can you help?

Heel pain in growing children is a common issue, usually between the ages of 8 and 13 and is often worse following sport or vigorous activity. If your child is complaining of pain at the back or bottom or their heel that has caused them to limit their activity then we can help!

My child has a plantar wart on the bottom of their foot. How do you treat them?

There are many ways to treat plantar warts, some of which can be quite painful. We focus on the methods that have the best evidence to support their use. In most cases the lesion is lightly debrided, medicated dressings are applied and then the process is repeated over 3-4 weeks. This method is effective and causes only very mild discomfort.
